On top of that, there was no business done during the January transfer window in order to try and offset the potential for any new afflictions to the side. Now that has happened the potential line-up could field some fringe or youth players who have simply not had regular action.
With that in mind football.london gives their thoughts on who they would start on Saturday. With some names that many would not have expected to be seen for the weekend.

The impossible task begins as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta tries to work out how he wishes to approach the games with so many players missing. It’s hard for us on the outside to think about what to go with.
I would play the closest eleven for the game first up to the system we are most used to for now. The 4-3-3 switching in the likes of Raheem Sterling and Leandro Trossard into the forward line with Ethan Nwaneri.
The rest of the team, for now, picks itself. The return of Ben White might now change that but he will have a tough test in breaking past Jurrien Timber.

It does feel as though this is Mikel Arteta's easiest XI of the season - and that is through no fault of his own. With FOUR of his first-team attackers unavailable, he has no choice but to use Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling as his front three.
Yes, Arteta could experiment the likes of Declan Rice in the false nine or use Oleksandr Zinchenko on the wing, but is not the time to be doing that - with Arsenal needing to win to close the gap on Liverpool.
The back four and goalkeeper picks itself, as Myles Lewis-Skelly keeps his place, while the midfield three makes sense, even if Jorginho and Mikel Merino are fighting to get back into the side.

It's another case of there not being too many options for Mikel Arteta to choose from on Saturday.
The Gunners boss said so himself, when asked about who would play through the middle. He responded: "You don't have to be too creative with the options that we have, I'm sure you're going to get it right!"
At the back it's a similar situation, Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis Skelly have to be the full-backs, around the normal centre-back pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
David Raya plays in goal of course. Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Thomas Partey are the midfielders, it's just a case of who plays where ahead of them.
Ethan Nwaneri could play through the middle, but it's a big ask for a boy so young. He should play in the Bukayo Saka role, with Leandro Trossard through the middle. I'm going rogue with the other choice because I don't have faith in Raheem Sterling at all.
Given his penchant for goals, I'm picking Riccardo Calafiori in the other forward spot.
Wilmot's Arsenal XI vs Leicester: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Nwaneri, Trossard, Calafiori.
