‘Absolute nonsense’: James Pearce shares what he’s now been told about Salah and Van Dijk’s Liverpool contracts

Speaking on the Walk On Podcast, James Pearce has addressed this theory, claiming that he’s been told by well-placed sources that this is absolute nonsense.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk contracts aren’t sorted yet
Pearce shared what he knows about Salah and Van Dijk after hearing this theory.

The journalist says that this theory is completely unfounded, claiming that if a deal was done, Liverpool would be sharing that news as quickly as possible.

“This school of thought that like Van Dijk and Salah’s new deals are all done and dusted and just tucked in a drawer away somewhere because they didn’t want to put pressure on Trent, is just numerous people who would know, have told me that that is absolute nonsense. I think it’s fair to say that if there had been a positive resolution, we would know about it because they’d be shouting it from the rooftops,” Pearce said.

Liverpool’s contract situations assessed
Liverpool seem to have got themselves in a real mess with these contract situations.

It looks like Trent Alexander-Arnold is a lost cause at this point, while Liverpool only have a few months to sort out Salah and Van Dijk’s situations.

Beyond that, Liverpool also have a few more contract issues on the horizon.

Liverpool contracts expiring 2025 Liverpool contracts expiring 2026 Liverpool contracts expiring 2027
Trent Alexander-Arnold Ibrahima Konate Luis Diaz
Mohamed Salah Caoimhin Kelleher Curtis Jones
Virgil van Dijk Andy Robertson Diogo Jota
Alisson
Harvey Elliott
Conor Bradley
Joe Gomez
Ibrahima Konate has been in talks about a new contract for ages, and that hasn’t progressed all that much, while Luis Diaz wants a new deal, but that hasn’t happened yet either.

Liverpool are about to win their second-ever Premier League title, but there are issues behind the scenes that need addressing if the Reds want to turn this fantastic season into a sustained era of dominance.
