Berta emerged as the top target for the Gunners and various reports have suggested terms have been agreed with the Italian. The 53-year-old has experience with Atletico Madrid and a number of Italian clubs, helping the Rojiblancos become league champions.
With Arsenal looking set to miss out on the Premier League title for the third straight season, Mikel Arteta is expected to welcome a number of new faces for the 2025/26 season.
It's reported that there's a desire for a squad makeover in the coming months and according to Give Me Sport, Berta has already made his intentions clear to make 'significant adjustments' to the Gunners squad. With the club one of few clubs not fearing the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR), the potential is great.
The report states that the Italian wants to improve the spine of Arteta's team with five new signings. A second-choice goalkeeper, left-back, defensive midfielder, left-winger and striker are all being targeted with back-up for Bukayo Saka and central midfielder also a possibility.
Martin Zubimendi is a player seemingly on the north Londoners' radar with a £51million buyout clause at Real Sociedad. Nico Williams and Joan Garcia, two other La Liga stars, are also said to be on their radar. It's said a whopping £300million could be splashed to take Arteta's side to the next level.

Bruno Guimaraes, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha are all also said to be on their shortlist. Journalist Ben Jacobs told Give Me Sport: "In addition, Andrea Berta will put forward Bruno Guimaraes, who has been on Arsenal’s radar before and again, Newcastle are not going to sell Isak and Guimaraes so there’s a couple of aspects here that make it complicated.
"But the difference between Isak and Guimaraes is that Bruno Guimaraes has a verbal pact with Newcastle United that will allow him to leave for significantly south of the £100 million release clause that was active last summer.”
