Barcelona and Arsenal ready to snatch top Newcastle star as Everton ‘open’ to bringing former player home

It may still be a few months before teams can start signing players again, but the rumour mill is really starting to warm up again – and as always, 3 Added Minutes is here with our round-up of some of the biggest and boldest new Premier League transfer rumours.
We’ll kick things off today with a story from Caught Offside which suggests that Newcastle United’s star midfielder, Bruno Guimarães, could be at the centre of a summer bidding war with Spanish giants Barcelona “eyeing up a summer transfer” for the Brazilian.

The Catalans see him as a potential replacement for Frenkie de Jong should the Dutchman leave, but they aren’t alone in their interest and Bruno remains “on the radar” of both Arsenal and Manchester City.

It’s not at all clear that De Jong will leave Barcelona and even less certain that they’d have the cash to pull this one off, although we note that no financial details are included in the report. Arsenal seem likely to settle for Martín Zubimendi, but we wouldn’t rule Manchester City out of the running.

Everton eye former hero
Over to TBR Football now, who claim that Everton are “open” to a “sensational” return for one of their former stars – Richarlison, who could leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Apparently the Toffees are interested in bringing Richarlison home “if he shows a willingness to do so”, which isn’t a cast iron guarantee, but are preparing for life after Dominic Calvert-Lewin either way. For their part, Spurs would also consider “moving on” from the Brazilian, who still has two years left on his deal in North London. Everton’s owners are expected to back David Moyes this summer after years of underspending on the squad.

Rumours that Richarlison is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia continue to linger and although he turned down a Pro League move last summer, there’s always a chance that the money could talk a little louder this time around. A return to Everton would certainly be romantic, however, and we doubt that Spurs would stand in his way.

Everton & Fulham among teams chasing West Ham man
We’ll keep Everton in play for today’s third and final story – they’re one of two Premier League teams interested in making a move for West Ham United’s experienced full-back Vladimír Coufal this summer, according to Sport Witness, who found the claim in the Czech media.

Coufal becomes a free agent this summer and while “all options are open”, it remains likely that the 32-year-old will leave the London Stadium despite expectations of further negotiations over a new deal. Fulham are said to be “intensely interested” in the right-back should he fail to strike a new accord with West Ham, while Moyes “could be looking for a reunion” with a player he managed not so very long ago.

Budget-conscious clubs like Fulham and Everton will do well to make the most of an unusually impressive crop of free agent players this summer, and while signing Coufal may not be flashy, he’s a rock-solid performer who likely still has a fair amount to offer. This is an unsexy but sensible sort of rumour.
