Exclusive: Andrea Berta’s Arsenal scouts are seriously impressed by three strikers alongside Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal are doing work on several possible Alexander Isak alternatives since the arrival of Andrea Berta, TBR Football can reveal.

After recent developments, Arsenal are now of the belief that Liverpool are ahead of them in the race to sign Isak.
Arsenal are still very much interested in the Sweden international, but as a result, they are making sure that they are doing sufficient work on other options.

Benjamin Sesko is still rated very highly at the club, a striker who Arsenal explored a move for whilst Edu Gaspar was still in charge.

But it’s understood that Arsenal are re-assessing their striker options, essentially making sure that no stone is left unturned – they know they need to get it right when they spend in the summer.

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Viktor Gyokeres is a player who Arsenal scouts like and it’s felt that he could be the answer if a deal for Isak is off the table.

Arsenal are once again taking a close look at a long list of strikers they have watched before – the likes of Ollie Watkins, Dusan Vlahovic, Jonathan David, Victor Osimhen, Moises Kean, Mateo Retegui, Hugo Ekitike, Samu Aghehowa and Victor Boniface.

The club’s recruitment team were already pressing on with this task before Berta arrived, but he’s since stressed the need to crack on.

TBR can confirm that during recent scouting checks – the report on Gyokeres has been particularly impressive, as have those for Osimhen, David and Ekitike.

Arsenal held preliminary talks to sign Ekitike recently, but it’s clear that the club are not committing to any one option as things stand.

Viktor Gyokeres’ preference when he leaves Sporting CP
It was recently revealed that Gyokeres won’t be heading to Nottingham Forest in the summer – despite links between the two parties.

And TBR understands that Gyokeres’ preference for his next club is one that simply fits his career path and upward trajectory.

The former Coventry City striker, who has scored 85 goals in 92 games for Sporting, moved to the club for a reason – he wanted to keep progressing.

Gyokeres’ next move is not about Champions League football or money – it’s about his continued progression.

The striker firmly believes that he is as good as anyone in Europe, and he’ll want the platform to prove it.
