Late Drama: Rival Club Makes Sneaky Last-Minute Bid to Poach Arsenal's Target, Despite Gunners' Long-Standing Interest

AC Milan are planning a last-minute attempt to try and hire director of football Andrea Bert and keep him out of Arsenal’s hands.

That’s according to Corriere della Sera, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, who cover the situation around in the in-demand director today.

They explain that Milan are planning to completely overhaul the set up above the manager this summer in a major reconstruction of their setup.

Plans already being formulated and the first step is to make a choice on who will be the club’s next sporting director.

They’ve been working on that in the last few hours and the plan is to now make a ‘last minute attempt’ for Berta. He is the preferred candidate on the list of names they are looking at.

However, the Italian club need to move quickly as the former Atletico Madrid manager has a ‘very well-established dialogue’ with Arsenal.

The Gunners are still hunting for a replacement for Edu Gaspa and have been talking to Berta for some time about a move. However, Corriere della Sera insist that he has not signed with Arsenal or anybody else as yet.

Thus, Milan may have an opportunity to nip in and convince him, although their approach is very much a last-minute one and Arsenal are out in front.
