Arsenal are interested in signing Kimmich on a free transfer with the experienced midfielder’s contract at Bayern Munich due to expire in the summer.
Now, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have been made aware of what the Germany international has opted to do.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool snubbed as Joshua Kimmich looks to stay with Bayern Munich
Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have been informed by Joshua Kimmich’s representatives that he is staying with Bayern Munich, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed.
All three English clubs had talks with Kimmich since the New Year. However, we can confirm that none made contract offers to the Germany international.
TBR Football has been told by intermediaries who were working on the potential English deals that none of the Premier League clubs were convinced that Kimmich was committed to leaving Germany.
Barcelona and Inter Milan also held talks, but Bayern – who withdrew an initial contract offer last week – have now come to terms on a four-year agreement with 30-year-old Kimmich.
It brings to an end a brilliant start to 2025 for Bayern, having persuaded Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and now Kimmich to all commit their futures to the Allianz Arena.
They were desperately trying to hammer out terms with Kimmich, and now it looks as though they’ve won that battle.
Kimmich is someone who Bayern believe could become their captain, such is their intent on keeping him.
“We have two big figures in Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller who will leave us at some point in the foreseeable future due to their age,” Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl previously said.
“So, we need new big figures. Joshua Kimmich, with his performances, his willingness, his heart, is predestined for that.
“It’s not for nothing that he’s captain of the German national team. He should be the captain of Bayern Munich of the future.
“But first we have to extend the contract, which will be strenuous enough.”
