Liverpool consider sensational Chelsea transfer raid as Arsenal eye world-class free agent

The weekend is here at long last, and what better way to kick-start two days of doing as little as humanly possible than with a quick round-up the very latest Premier League transfer rumours?

Once again, we at 3 Added Minutes have picked out the juiciest gossip that’s been circulating over the last 24 hours and we’re going to start by offering up a pretty huge story concerning Liverpool’s alleged interest in a big-name Chelsea player.
TeamTalk reckon that the Reds “are interested” in a move for Levi Colwill , noting that they are “impressed” with the England international and have “long-term interest” in him – interest which could be strengthened by the potential departures of both Virgil van Dijk, who’s out of contract, and Joe Gomez, whose “future is uncertain.”

No financial details are mentioned in the report, but Caught Offside are carrying the same story too – although they add that Liverpool could also make a move for Bournemouth’s brilliant young centre-back Dean Huijsen, who has been a regular in our weekly Wonderkid Power Rankings over the past few months. Sorry, that was a pretty gratuitous plug for a Saturday morning.

This is a lot more plausible than it may look at first blush – Chelsea may need to keep selling home-grown players to stay within the profit and sustainability rules, and Colwill is their most valuable asset of that ilk, so he could easily become a victim of the club’s transfer policy. Don’t be shocked if this one happens.

Liverpool & Chelsea also after €60m midfielder
Speaking of Liverpool and Chelsea, how about a separate story from Sport Witness, this time suggesting that both clubs are tracking the progress of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson – although they would have to “dig deep into their pockets” to make a deal for the Swede happen.

Apparently Frankfurt want €60m (£49.6m), although there is “an acceptance” that the talented 20-year-old is likely to leave before too long. This is all based on a report from Germany which claims interest from both sides, but it isn’t clear just how far up either team’s shortlist Larsson really is.

Larsson is a hard-working defensive midfielder who isn’t a major creative force but does force a lot of turnovers and cover a lot of ground – Liverpool need someone like that, but may be more likely to bid for someone more senior. Larsson is a budding talent and we expect a lot of eyes on him, but we’re clearly not at the stage where bids are imminent.

Arsenal ready to make massive free agent move
We’ll round things off today with a tale for Arsenal fans, courtesy of The Daily Mirror – following a breakdown in negotiations over a new deal between Bayern Munich and Joshua Kimmich, they claim that the Gunners “have launched talks” to sign him on a free this summer.

Kimmich’s contract is running down at the end of June and he has wanted to earn more than the £320,000 per week that he’s apparently on now – but with the German and his club apparently too far apart, there is now room for Mikel Arteta’s team to step in and secure a world-class midfielder to partner Declan Rice, with Jorginho and Thomas Partey both expected to leave this summer.

Apparently Kimmich “is interested in hearing what [Arsenal] have to say” but at least one other foreign side, Paris Saint-Germain, are reported to be interested as well. It may come down to a big bidding war for the 30-year-old.

The only reason to hesitate is if Kimmich wants a long contract, as you don’t want to get lumbered with a player in their thirties for the long run if their performances start declining, especially given how much money he wants – but as it stands, Kimmich is worth a hell of a lot of cash based on the consistent excellence he’s demonstrated for Bayern and Germany for many years.
