Liverpool star Alisson makes Arsenal admission and snubs Jamie Carragher after PSG heroics

Alisson was the star of the show for Liverpool as they edged past Paris Saint-Germain in the first-leg of their Champions League meeting but was not overly popular after the game

Jamie Carragher walked out on a live CBS broadcast after Alisson claimed he preferred Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

The goalkeeper was fresh off the back of a stunning Liverpool performance. His nine saves helped the Reds to a slender 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes in their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

And it was no surprise to see him put up for an interview post-game with American channel CBS. Typically, the topic of conversation moved to a more jokey nature once the analysis of the game was over - and that’s when Alisson seemingly put his foot in it with Carragher.

Ex-Manchester City man Micah Richards asked the Brazilian: "Have you seen our show Alisson? Have you seen the clips online?"

He replied he had, while Richards then asked, who his favourite pundit was while attempting to show off his Portuguese. Alisson replied: "Nice Portuguese by the way, I think I would have to say Thierry, legend. When I was growing up, I watched a lot of Arsenal in the early 2000s when he was playing. So, it was the only team that was showing on the TV in Brazil."

And that triggered faux outrage from both Richards and Carragher, who stood up and walked off set as Alisson continued to praise Henry. The former was heard jokingly saying: "I've had enough of this."

Carragher’s pretend fury had come after he had claimed Liverpool’s win in the French capital was “one of the biggest robberies in football”. But he also suggested that Alisson’s performance could give Liverpool the platform to win the competition.

“Got away with it? That’s one of the biggest robberies you will ever see in football, that,” Carragher said. “I can’t believe what I’ve just seen. PSG were absolutely outstanding and battered Liverpool.

Thierry Henry could not hide his feelings on the claim

“The last time Liverpool won this competition, Alisson Becker made a save against Napoli in the last group game of the group stage. Liverpool could have gone out had Napoli had scored. That is always looked back on as a defining moment.

“That wasn’t a save tonight. That was arguably the greatest performance of his career, certainly in a Liverpool shirt.

“And if Liverpool go on to win this competition – which they have a good chance of, they’re a lot better than what we saw tonight – then that performance will be remembered for years to come.”
