Goals from Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Martin Odegaard (2), Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori completed a quite ridiculous rout of the Dutch side, particularly when you think of Arsenal being condemned for their lack of goals and a lack of a recognised striker of late.
Supporters will naturally have preferred to have seen some of the goals used up against PSV scored in the Premier League goalless draw with Nottingham Forest and 1-0 defeat to West Ham United that have seen their title dream all but diminish.
But Arsenal were purring in Eindhoven and offered a timely reminder of what they can do when things click perfectly into place.
While everything and everyone was firing, there was one negative from the performance. Young full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly had to be hooked before half time, having got away with a red card.
Having already been booked, the youngster then took out Richard Ledezma before he aimed to cross the ball. The PSV fans screamed for a second yellow, but amazingly it was not forthcoming.
The youngster has already been sent off twice in the Premier League this season, albeit one was overturned on appeal, and another would have looked very bad in his fledgling career. He is undoubtedly hugely talented, but there is a disciplinary issue which needs to be curtailed, and quickly.
And it could cause Mikel Arteta a bit of a problem moving forward. Literally.
Calafiori is obviously a full-back by trade, but has popped up in advanced positions on more than one occasion this season and scored a fine goal to cap things off against PSV on Tuesday night. Latching onto an Odegaard through-ball, Calafiori showed great movement from the left to the inside right channel before firing a first-time shot across the keeper and in off the far post.
He has quite the strike on him, as proven by goals against Manchester City and Wolves in the Premier League this season and there are murmurs that he could provide the solution to the forward problems Arteta is having in the absence of Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said: "Ricci making a movement as a nine and scoring with the right foot. That's what I'm talking about, flow, courage and about playing the way we want to play."
Calafiori may be a rogue choice to play up front, but given his quality, it is not quite as ridiculous as it may sound. However, Lewis-Skelly's indiscipline could halt that idea before it gets off the ground.
If Arteta feels the need to give Lewis-Skelly some time out to regain his composure, Calafiori is the obvious choice to replace him at left-back, which would harm Arsenal in more areas than one. The Italian is pretty remarkable going forward, creates chances and plays with real intent, but the defensive side of his game needs work.
It is no shock that Lewis-Skelly has been preferred to him at full-back. He needs someone like Saka or Martinelli ahead of him, because of the work they do to protect him. Lewis-Skelly does not need that so much, but does need to curtail his rashness.
Arteta may be inclined to use Calafiori further forward in the upcoming weeks, but what happens with Lewis-Skelly may change his mind.
