The Gunners need reinforcements in multiple areas of their pitch. New players up front and out wide are a necessity, while Mikel Arteta may need two new midfielders too as both Jorginho and Thomas Partey could leave the club.
To add to that, Arsenal’s decision to not sign anybody in the January transfer window adds more pressure on the board to deliver in the summer.
All eyes are on a new striker, and David Ornstein has shared what he knows about Arsenal’s plans up top.
David Ornstein shares Benjamin Sesko update amid Arsenal links
Arsenal have been keen to sign Benjamin Sesko for about a year now.
The RB Leipzig star is one of the most talented strikers in the world right now. He is of interest to several clubs and is expected by many to be on the move this summer.
TBR Football exclusively revealed recently that Liverpool are interested in signing Sesko along with Arsenal and their London rivals Chelsea.
We also confirmed that Sesko has a £58 million release clause in his contract, but that figure could go up based on the performance of the player and the club.
Ornstein has now claimed that Arsenal have done their work on several strikers ahead of the summer transfer window, but none more than Sesko.
But, there is no guarantee yet that he will join them this summer.
Ornstein said in a Q&A on The Athletic: “Arsenal will have done a significant amount of work on many options and, to my knowledge, none more so than Sesko.
“That doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to sign him because, as you mention, there is the Isak interest and also they are not the only club pursuing Sesko.
“Personally I haven’t heard of Ekitike or any other candidates being as high in the thinking as those two at this stage but that can always change, of course.”
Benjamin Sesko vs Alexander Isak stats compared
Arsenal’s two top striker targets for this summer are Sesko and Alexander Isak.
Both players are absolutely incredible and would make the Gunners significantly stronger if either one of them was to arrive this summer.
But, whose numbers are better? Here’s what their stats in their respective leagues look like in 2024/25!
Isak’s numbers are much better than Sesko’s, but it has to be considered that the Newcastle United star is three-and-a-half years older.
What’s more promising with Sesko is that his shooting accuracy is superior to that of Isak, and his ability with long shots is arguably greater as well.
To add to that, Sesko will cost less than half of what Isak is expected to go for this summer, which makes him the more value-for-money option.
However, we’re sure Arsenal fans will be happy with either one of them.
