ARSENAL TRANSFER UPDATE:Man City consider shock move for Arsenal star

The Citizens have endured a torrid season so far and currently sit fifth in the top flight table, having won less than half of their 29 matches so far.

Pep Guardiola did see his side reach the FA Cup semi-finals over the weekend, though, courtesy of a 2-1 win against Bournemouth, and the Spaniard will hope to see his side build on that victory when they face the Foxes.

In the build up to the game, it has emerged that City are considering a sensational move for a key player from one of their rivals.

According to Defensa Central via TEAMtalk, Guardiola is keen to overhaul his squad and has identified Arsenal defender William Saliba as a prime target.

The 24-year-old centre-back has been instrumental to Mikel Arteta’s side over the past two years, forging a strong partnership with Brazilian Gabriel.

Saliba has emerged as a shock target for rivals Manchester City

Saliba initially joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne in 2019 but had three separate loan spells in France before returning to join Arteta’s squad in 2022.

He has now played 122 times for the North London outfit across all competitions, establishing himself as one of the best central defenders in the English top flight.

The report claims that Guardiola is planning a ‘revolution’ at The Etihad, in the wake of his side’s ongoing poor campaign, with the Spaniard highlighting how his side have ‘lost their defensive reliability’.

With that in mind, the ex-Barcelona boss has earmarked Saliba as a potential target for the upcoming summer transfer window, although Arsenal are not likely to want to sell to such a fierce rival.

The France international is under contract with Arsenal until the end of the 2026/27 season, but the report suggests that City are preparing a substantial offer for the player.
