DEAL COMPLETED:Journalist says it ‘seems to be a done deal’ and player is off to Arsenal

Arsenal’s interest in Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi has been repeatedly reported in the UK and Spain.

On April 2nd, AS reported the Gunners have informed the midfielder’s entourage of their willingness to activate his €60m clause. It was also stated Real Madrid could snatch him from Arsenal’s clutches.
Journalist Juan Castro, writing in his column for Wednesday’s edition of Marca, provides the latest on this case.

He claims both the north London club and La Real take it for granted that the 26-year-old will move to the Emirates in the summer window. Castro claims he was informed of Real Sociedad’s stance by Marca’s San Sebastián correspondent, Óscar Badallo.

Castro adds the Spain international’s move to Arsenal ‘seems to be a done deal’ and that is at least what both parties insist. He hasn’t specified who the two parties he’s referring to.

The journalist states the move could only collapse if the Kroenkes [Arsenal owner Stan and Josh Kroenke] refuse to sanction €60m or if Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez makes a late attempt.

At this point in time, it looks too late for Real Madrid, meaning only Kroenkes can scupper Zubimendi’s signing.

The Spaniard can reunite with two of his former teammates, Martin Ødegaard and Mikel Merino, at Arsenal
