Arsenal created a historic evening at the Emirates Stadium as they thrashed the defending European champions, Real Madrid, 3-0.
A sensational brace of free-kicks from Declan Rice and Mikel Merino’s fourth career goal against Madrid secured one of the biggest wins in the Gunners’ recent history.
Rice may have stolen the headlines against Madrid, however, it was the performance of Saka which has the media back in Spain talking.
The Spanish media react to Bukayo Saka dominating David Alaba vs Real Madrid
The Spanish media have been reacting to Bukayo Saka’s dominant performance against David Alaba in Real Madrid’s crushing defeat to Mikel Arteta’s team.
Ancelotti tasked Alaba with stopping Saka, however, the Austrian just couldn’t live with the winger who had the beating of him all night long.
Madrird’s fans were terrified every time Saka had the ball and for good reason, as despite only just returning from injury, the 23-year-old looked absouley electric.
After the match, the local media in Spain were quick to review the battle between Saka and Alaba and were full of praise for the Arsenal man.
Sport claimed: “The danger came from the other side, where Alaba, who was picked ahead of Fran García in recent matches, was exposed against an inspired Saka.”
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo wrote: “Alaba played at left back and Saka demanded a lot from him, beating him on several occasions.”
El Pais also noticed the danger posed by Saka: “Every time Saka received the ball, Bellingham dropped back, Camavinga closed in, and even Vinicius crept into the box. But little by little, Alaba found himself with less company. The crowd immediately sensed him.”
What Cesc Fabregas said about Bukayo Saka vs Real Madrid
Cesc Fabregas was also in agreement that Saka’s performance deserved a special mention despite Rice’s two goals.
