From Spain: Arsenal preparing record-breaking £128m offer for ‘truly elite’ striker, it’s not Isak

The Gunners are in the market for a brand new centre-forward this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options, with a natural number nine seen as a priority.
Martinez has emerged as one of the best strikers on the continent in recent seasons and has helped Inter to push to the top of Serie A, while also winning the league in 2023/24 while winning the golden boot, and Arsenal have now emerged as the frontrunners for his signature.

Martinez is said to be in talks over a new deal at the San Siro, having cemented himself as the captain of the team and a key member of Simone Inzaghi's squad.

But with no agreement found, Arsenal are now planning on swooping in for the Argentina international with an 'astronomical' offer that could turn the Italian side's head as we head into what will be a busy summer window.

Martinez, who has been described as 'truly elite', is open to staying in Italy but is also receptive to new challenges in his career and a move to the Emirates Stadium could provide just that. Arsenal are now looking to push forward and make a move for his signature, with a bid worth £128m potentially on the cards.

Arteta's dream signing for the summer would be Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, but the Magpies are adamant they won't sell the Sweden star and reports suggest it would take at least £150m to even open talks.

Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike have also been targeted as new forward options, while Matheus Cunha is a long-term target for the Gunners too.

But a major offer for Martinez could be received well in Milan which could also then change the plans of the north London club, and a brand new international striker to fire them to the Premier League title next season could be on his way in.
