Report: Liverpool now pushing ahead with move to sign ‘absurd’ forward alongside Isak

Liverpool are set to make a concrete move for long-term target Ryan One, who is on the rise at EFL Championship's Sheffield United, according to Graeme Bailey via Rousing the Kop.

One has been on the Reds' radar since starting his youth career with Scottish outfit Hamilton Academical, and they have been 'monitoring' his progress at Bramall Lane. The teenage Scot is a top attacking prospect who has broken into Chris Wilder's first team this season amid the club's push for Premier League promotion.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut in the English top-flight in a 5-0 loss to Arsenal in October 2023, aged 17. The Blades see huge potential in the 12-cap Scotland U19 international but have a massive fight to keep him amid Premier League interest, including Liverpool and Ipswich Town, the latter of whom are thought to be keen on him replacing Manchester United target Liam Delap.

Liverpool are 'red-hot' on One and similarly see a talent waiting to explode in English football, a versatile attacker who can play across the frontline. The Reds plan to bring him into the academy and have him quickly develop into a first-team star.

Wilder tried downplaying talk of the Coatbridge-born starlet departing by insisting he has a 'huge future in front of him and his future is in a red and white shirt'. One has four years left on his contract with the Blades, but the opportunity to join the likely Premier League champions could be tough to turn down.

Liverpool are set to pursue a new striker this summer, but One wouldn't be a first-team acquisition, unlike Alexander Isak, who reportedly remains their top target despite Mohamed Salah's contract extension. But they needn't look further for his incredible ability than a goal he managed for the U21s last summer that was called 'absurd' by a fan channel.

The Merseysiders could use Harvey Elliott's acquisition in the summer of 2021 as a blueprint, signing him from Fulham but sending him out on loan to Blackburn Rovers for first-team opportunities during his teenage years.
