Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has drawn criticism for his response to his team’s late penalty against Burnley.
Amorim received a lot of flak for sitting on the bench and failing to watch the penalty kicks during United’s Carabao Cup shootout loss to Grimsby in the middle of the week.
This time, Amorim was present as Bruno Fernandes gave United a much-needed victory over the Clarets with a penalty kick in stoppage time.
Josh Cullen gave United the lead with an own goal, but United won the game 3-2 after an exciting contest.
Burnley’s Lyle Foster then equalized, but United’s lead was regained by Bryan Mbeumo.
United was given a penalty late on after Jaidon Anthony made it 2-2 when it was determined that Anthony had yanked Amad Diallo’s shirt in the box.
Before the penalty was awarded, Amorim was the center of attention, and the United manager displayed signs of nervousness.
But in the end, United and Amorim were ecstatic as the Red Devils won for the first time this season.
