Manchester United has reportedly inquired about signing a Chelsea midfielder as part of the Argentine’s deal as the Alejandro Garnacho story continues to drag on.
Latest on Chelsea’s Garnacho move
Chelsea still hasn’t finalized their deal to sign Garnacho, and the transfer window closes in less than two weeks. In the meantime, the teenage winger hasn’t returned to Ruben Amorim’s plans either, and if people at Stamford Bridge don’t improve, he might find himself at the worst conceivable crossroads.
However, considering that Garnacho reportedly rejected a bid from Bayern Munich this month and is exclusively interested in West London, there appears to be a lot of confidence that a deal will occur before the deadline.
Those at Old Trafford won’t simply sell their unwanted stars at any price, though, and Amorim reiterated that stance when asked about the likes of Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho earlier this summer – telling reporters: “We are just allowing these players to think and decide. If they reach a point where they will have to join the team, they will join because they are our players.
“I know for a fact Omar (Barrada, CEO) and Jason (Wilcox, director of football) and the club have a number (price) for these players. If they don’t reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that. I understand other clubs are maybe waiting for the last minute, but they can have a surprise.”
That being said, Manchester United’s opportunity to receive anything in exchange for resolving their own issue this month may undoubtedly benefit Chelsea’s progress.
Man Utd enquire about signing Andrey Santos
Ben Jacobs of GiveMeSport claims that Manchester United has now inquired about acquiring Andrey Santos as part of a summer Garnacho trade with Chelsea. The midfielder was put into Enzo Maresca’s team right away after spending the previous season on loan at Stasbourg, where he made an impression on many.
According to reports, the Blues have informed United that Santos is not for sale at this time. However, it is unclear if they will alter their position as the deadline draws near and they grow eager to acquire Garnacho.
It should come as no surprise that United has identified Santos as the player they would like to trade. Santos is the kind of player who may fill the same hole as the Cameroon star, and Brighton & Hove Albion recently priced out a move for Manchester City to get Carlos Baleba.
The Brazilian, who was recently called “dominant” by scout Jacek Kulig, would be a great addition to United’s midfield.
