€55 million Manchester United star contemplating Old Trafford exit, MLS move appeals to him

Bruno Fernandes is reportedly mulling over leaving Manchester United, and a move to MLS appeals to the 30-year-old Portuguese international.

Bruno Fernandes’ future at Manchester United is questionable, per a report from Caught Offside. Several foreign clubs have expressed interest in signing the Portuguese international during the summer transfer window, although numerous high-profile Saudi Pro League teams have failed to do so.

The captain of Manchester United has been connected to Al-Ittihad in recent rumors, and he requested a salary of €40 million per year in order to join the Saudi Pro League. Fernandes is considering leaving Manchester United, though, as MLS is becoming a more alluring destination, even though a Saudi contract has not yet been finalized.

Bruno Fernandes and his Manchester United career so far

Following his €55 million January 2020 transfer from Sporting CP to Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes has emerged as one of the world’s top players. Despite the struggling Premier League giants’ inefficiencies over the past six months, the 30-year-old playmaker has been a key component of the team since he arrived at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese international has made almost 300 appearances for Manchester United so far, scoring 98 goals and dishing out 86 assists. Since the 2023–2024 season, Fernandes has served as Manchester United’s club captain. Erik ten Hag gave him the extra duty after removing Harry Maguire from the position.

What next?

Despite his stellar play for Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes’ long-term prospects have been in doubt because to his connections to Saudi Pro League teams during the summer transfer window. After pursuing him for a few weeks, Al-Hilal wanted to hire him and wanted to pay a record fee.

The former Sporting CP captain has since expressed interest in joining Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad, but he need an annual salary of €40 million in order to join the Saudi Pro League. Ruben Amorim has been determined to keep Fernandes at Manchester United past the summer transfer window, even if a deal has not yet been finalized.

But the most recent information has worried Manchester United supporters since the 30-year-old Portuguese international is considering leaving, and he finds a move to Major League Soccer interesting. However, because the transfer window closed a week ago, a summer transfer to Major League Soccer will not happen. It will be unexpected, however, if the captain of Manchester United joins the Saudi Pro League this summer.
