Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United talks ‘very advanced’ over ‘dream’ transfer move

Man Utd want to add another player to their squad in the final week of the summer transfer window.

Before the transfer window’s closing, Manchester United hopes to add Senne Lammens as their fifth summer acquisition. With over £200 million already committed this summer, Ruben Amorim intends to bolster his team with a goalkeeper before the European transfer window closes on Monday, September 1.

Lammens, who was left out of Royal Antwerp’s squad for their Belgian Pro League victory over KV Mechelen over the weekend, is the subject of advanced negotiations with United regarding a transfer. For their star goalkeeper, who has already agreed to a transfer to Old Trafford in principle, Antwerp is reportedly seeking a total deal of about £21.66 million (€25 million).

Amorim is eager to increase his goalkeeping alternatives and knows he needs to have more competition for Andre Onana’s starting position. Due to his expected participation in the Africa Cup of Nations later in the year, the 29-year-old will miss a number of games. However, there is a claim that he could perform better if he faces fierce competition for his starting spot.

Lammens talks ‘very advanced’

Manchester United would prefer to reveal Senne Lammens before the weekend and hopes to finalize an agreement for him soon. He might even be introduced to the Old Trafford crowd before their Saturday afternoon Premier League matchup against Burnley.

Fabrizio Romano, who writes for GIVEMESPORT, gave fans a new update on the trade and reassured them that negotiations for the goalie were “very advanced.” “The negotiations are at a very advanced stage, with an agreement already in place with the goalkeeper,” Romano stated.

“Lammens has agreed to a long-term contract at Old Trafford, which is significantly less than the reported demands of Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain or Martinez, which likely explains why Manchester United hasn’t moved further with either of those two transactions thus far.

The reason Lammens did not start for Royal Antwerp this weekend was because he wants to join Manchester United. What follows? The two clubs’ talks are moving quickly; at first, they are talking about €17 million plus add-ons to complete a €20 million package, but Royal Antwerp wants €25 million (£22 million) to close the deal. Given Lammens’ desire to join Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils and fulfill his dream move, there isn’t much of a valuation difference. Everyone expects an agreement to be reached before to the deadline.
