Radek Vitek, a Manchester United loanee, is causing a stir at Bristol City by keeping up his impressive goalkeeping exploits.
When Bristol City hosted Hull City in the Championship on Saturday, the tall Czech goalie made an incredible save.
The right-back Oli McBurnie deftly drew away from his marker to meet Cody Drameh’s precise cross.
McBurnie hit the ground with a strong header that appeared to be headed for the net.
Vitek, however, came back with a spectacular one-handed stop, throwing himself to his right to rip the ball free.
It was the type of elite save that would inspire respect in even the world’s greatest goalkeepers.
Vitek’s save on X was also praised by Bristol City, who called it “frankly ridiculous.”
Five of Vitek’s seven saves during the ninety minutes came from shots inside the box.
Additionally, he demonstrated his attentiveness by making five accurate throws and stepping out three times as a sweeper.
Considering that he only completed 10 of 22 attempted passes, he needs to improve his ball distribution accuracy.
The 21-year-old won the Man of the Match award in the 0-0 draw with Charlton earlier this month, demonstrating his immediate impact at his new club.
Over the past two seasons, Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana have committed well-publicized errors.
The 2025–2026 season is continuing the same narrative.
Onana made two costly errors against Grimsby, and yesterday Burnley equalized for the second time thanks to a slip by Bayindir.
Although Vitek appears to be a clear improvement over the two, the team knows that experience in the Championship will help him grow more than hastening his return at this time.
