‘It has been decided’ – Club action regarding Man Utd transfer target signals a move to Old Trafford is inching closer

Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp is a target for Manchester United, and a move to Old Trafford is becoming closer.

According to Belgian reports, Antwerp’s matchday roster for this weekend’s match against Mechelen does not include the Man United target.

Man United needs a new goalie since Andre Onana hasn’t lived up to expectations since joining from Inter Milan two years ago.

It was evident that the Red Devils needed a new goalkeeper, even if United manager Ruben Amorim openly supported the Cameroon international after his embarrassing errors.

Altay Bayindir, United’s backup goalie, had a chance to start but was just as unreliable, therefore the team had to look for a new goalkeeper.

Man United have now turned to Lammens as they bid to bounce back from their woeful 15th-place Premier League finish and poor Europa League final showing.

Why Manchester United want Lammens

Man United sees Lammens as the long-term solution between the posts, as seen by his stats.

In 2024–2025, he was the world football goalie with the most saves (178) and goals (15.8).

Additionally, he was in the 90th percentile for save percentage and the 98th percentile for goals avoided.

His passing statistics are particularly noteworthy; he ranks in the 89th percentile for completed passes and the 81st for accuracy on short passes.

With 127 saves, an 81.4% save rate, and 14.5 goals stopped, Lammens dominated the Pro League in Belgium, surpassing David de Gea’s record-setting 2017–18 campaign.

He is in the top 1% in Europe’s top twenty leagues in terms of goals averted, crosses stopped, penalties saved, and total saves.

Lammens is among the top young goalkeepers available and may be a game-changer for United.

It would be a great window if Man United were to get Lammens in addition to Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, and Matheus Cunha.

It would be perhaps their best in recent memory if a quality midfielder followed.
