Leeds ready ambitious loan approach for Man United star – sources

According to MOT Leeds News, Leeds United has made Kobbie Mainoo an aim of great ambition.

Although Leeds United has made substantial midfield additions this summer, Ethan Ampadu’s injury has raised questions.

The Welshman, who gave Ilia Gruev an opportunity in Leeds’ 5-0 loss to Arsenal, is not scheduled to play again until after the September international break.

But if a chance presents itself, Mainoo might be the Whites’ man to add another body to their midfield.

Kobbie Mainoo could leave Man United this summer

According to a talkSPORT story, Mainoo would be open to leaving Manchester United this summer after losing some of his support under Ruben Amorim.

The 20-year-old has not yet played for the Red Devils this season, and according to MOT Leeds News, the Whites are thinking of making a “ambitious” bid to loan him to Elland Road.

Mainoo’s last two seasons at Man United

According to people close to Leeds, Mainoo was a soft target for the Whites when they were promoted from the Championship.

Given his contract status, Man United is unlikely to approve a loan transfer to another Premier League team at this time, although that could alter if the player becomes agitated in the closing days of the transfer window.

Mainoo reportedly makes £25,000 a week through Capology, but it’s said he wanted £150,000 to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

Who has played for Leeds and Man United in the past?

If a deal does come through this summer, Mainoo would join a number of players who have contracts with both Leeds and Manchester United, though some of the names will surprise you.

Although Largie Ramazani had a contract at Old Trafford from 2017 to 2020 before moving on to Almeria, it appears that he will be leaving Leeds this summer.

Dan James, who signed a £25 million contract with Leeds from the Red Devils in 2021, is a notable player who has played for both.

This is a very small list that also includes names like Eric Cantona, Jack Butland, and Joe Rothwell.

Mainoo would be the first to accomplish the feat in four years if he does.
