Man Utd transfer disaster with deal off and alternatives now being sought – report

Manchester United has reportedly “halted” a long-rumored transfer that they had been working on for the majority of the summer. The story explains why the deal is off and what will happen next.

With the awareness that departures would be as significant as additions, Man Utd approached the summer window. Marcus Rashford is not the only talent that United is eager to let go of, but the team has had trouble clearing the deck.

Thankfully, Alejandro Garnacho is now close to paying £40 million to join Chelsea. Rasmus Hojlund’s loan with a conditional purchase clause to Napoli is also almost complete.

However, United is still attempting to negotiate Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia’s departures. The latter has spent the entire summer focusing on a return to Real Betis.

During his six-month loan stint with the Spanish team last season, Antony excelled. The Brazilian is in favor of rejoining Betis, but from a financial standpoint, Betis cannot meet the conditions made by Manchester United.

According to the most recent report from Spanish publication ABC, Antony’s contract with Real Betis is officially off, after lengthy negotiations.

Real Betis is currently “considering other options to reinforce the right wing” after the two teams’ negotiations were “halted.”

Why Antony to Real Betis has stalled

ABC cited the financial aspects of the move as the reason it has failed.

According to reports, Manchester United has been requesting €40 million (£34.6 million) in either a permanent transfer or as part of a conditional or obligatory purchase after another loan period.

Betis has apparently understood since the beginning of the negotiations that the €40 million amount is much above their means.

As the window’s closing drew closer, Betis apparently hoped Manchester United would reduce their expectations, but that hasn’t occurred.

The report did raise the prospect of resuming negotiations following a lull. However, given the short amount of time left in the Spanish window and the clubs’ alleged disparity in the numbers, such an endeavor might not succeed.

“The growing optimism of recent hours in these negotiations has come to a halt, and now the parties are giving themselves a break after leaving the table and breaking off talks,” ABC said, providing more context for the situation.

The positions appeared to be getting closer after Alarcón and Fajardo’s journey to Manchester, but Betis continued on highlighting how “very difficult” the transaction was, even though specific numbers were being published in England for an agreement that never existed.

After finding out that [Man Utd] was eager to come back, Betis evaluated the circumstances and looked at its financial constraints in order to create a compelling offer and win over the player, who was adamant about wanting to play again.

United, however, has rejected this offer and is requesting an unconditional outright transfer for about 40 million euros, capitalizing on the player’s heightened worth created by Betis since the January loan agreement.

The ball is now in United’s court with a player who accepts a high wage and refuses to play for them, but this breakdown in negotiations is typical in this kind of deal, particularly at the conclusion of the transfer window.

If he rejects the transfer offers that are already collapsing, like Fenerbahce’s, which is leaving this race after missing out on the Champions League, they have vowed to storm the stands.

The outcome of the trade, which Betis always talks gingerly about and which is turning out to be as complicated as the skill level of a top player like Antony, will be determined by the response of both teams between now and Monday night.

According to ABC, the Verdiblancos had just sent in their last offer to sign Antony. After carefully examining the deal’s viability, Betis’s management put out a fresh scenario after United declined to allow a new loan that did not ensure a sizable financial return.

This was in line with Betis’s budget, and before placing the offer on the table to finalize Antony’s contract, it was crucial to satisfy La Liga’s expectations, which was crucial for the English team.

As a result, Betis had suggested a financial engineering scheme that would have a number of effects on both teams, including the player, who would receive a rising wage under his new contract at Heliópolis, while keeping certain sums in case of a future sale.

The offer has been the subject of intense efforts by Heliopolis’ legal services to persuade United, which has consistently sought to recoup a significant portion of the Brazilian’s unpaid amortization.

Given the necessity to look for alternatives that would compel United to reject the terms put forth by Heliópolis, Betis did not want to wait until the last minute to resolve the Antony drama.

“The cost of purchasing Antony would impact the remaining deals, but the sporting directors are looking at other options to strengthen the right wing as well as other positions they’ve been working on recently.”

Naturally, Antony’s decision not to rejoin Betis does not obligate the winger to play for Manchester United this season.

The Turkish and Saudi Arabian deadlines in particular stay open far longer than many of their European counterparts.
