Man Utd transfers: Rasmus Hojlund given hope over exit as talks begin for new goalkeeper

Before the transfer window closes in a little more than a week, Manchester United still has time to complete a few more acquisitions.

Only three significant additions have been made to United this summer: strikers Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. Nevertheless, manager Ruben Amorim still needs to strengthen his team’s defense and midfield.

Diego Leon, a young defender, has joined, but Amorim will want more experience at the back. He also wants a central midfielder after turning down a bid for Brighton star Carlos Baleba.

Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are among the few players hoping to leave Old Trafford before the window ends.

As the summer transfer window draws to a close, Mirror Sport has compiled all of the most important Manchester United news.

Napoli open to Hojlund move

Another United player with an uncertain future is Rasmus Hojlund, whom Amorim would be happy to let go in order to balance the books.

After only scoring three goals in the Premier League the previous season and failing to make an impression after moving from Atalanta for £72 million in 2023, United is considering offers for Hojlund.

He was left out of the team to play Arsenal last week, and Sesko’s arrival has moved him further down the hierarchy.

Along with other Italian teams watching the Danish international, Napoli has expressed interest in Hojlund; however, they had previously just been interested in a loan agreement.

However, since Antonio Conte lost forward Romelu Lukaku to injury, the nature of the transfer has changed.

According to rumors from Italy, Napoli has made Hojlund their top target and is prepared to make a deal that would need them to buy into any loan agreement because the Belgian is currently unavailable.

After spending £72 million on Sesko, United would be able to reinvest the money in a new midfield player if they were to remove Hojlund from their pay cost.

United begin Lammens talks

After several costly mistakes last season, Amorim is still apprehensive about the Cameroonian, even if United recently welcomed Andre Onana back from injury.

Onana joined United from Inter Milan in 2023 for £47.5 million, but his inconsistent performances have not given the team confidence.

Due to concerns over backup Altay Bayindir following a fumble against Arsenal, United has been heavily linked to a new goalkeeper during this transfer window in order to provide Onana more quality competition.

Additionally, the Sun claims that United is getting closer to signing Senne Lammens, a goalkeeper for Royal Antwerp who has been highly regarded for several seasons.

After witnessing the 23-year-old develop into one of Europe’s most promising keepers, Lammens has been frequently projected to join Old Trafford, and rumors have it that personal terms have nearly been reached.

The youthful player made 44 appearances last season and has played 63 games for the Belgian team.

Stiller links debunked

Another player that United has frequently been connected to is Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller. Stiller would be the kind of dependable and strong central midfield player Amorim is seeking.

The 24-year-old is expected to join a major club soon after making an impression for Stuttgart in recent seasons.

He demonstrated his creative abilities by starting 31 games for his team in the Bundesliga last season, scoring one goal and providing eight assists.

Although he has been identified as a player Manchester United is interested in, Sky in Germany has stated that rumors that the player is connected to Old Trafford are “wide of the mark.”

According to the source, there have been no talks between Stuttgart and United, and there are no plans to move for Stiller before the deadline.

Despite rumored interest from around Europe, it also states that Stuttgart intends to have the player play for the team into the upcoming season.
