Goalie Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp is reportedly getting closer to joining Manchester United.
United is in the lead to sign the goalkeeper, and the 23-year-old could leave the Belgian team this summer for £17 million. He didn’t play in Antwerp’s match against Mechelen on Sunday because his move is so advanced.
Lammens did not appear on the bench for the 2-1 victory at Bosuilstadion; instead, Yannick Thoelen took his place between the sticks.
Rather, Lammens was seen observing from the stands as he allegedly reached a personal agreement with United.
Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir are in risk as a result of Lammens’ suggested action. When Onana returned from injury, he was placed on the bench against Fulham, and Bayindir put up another poor showing in his replacement role.
Due to injury, Onana missed both the preseason and the first Premier League match against Arsenal. After failing to demonstrate his abilities the previous season, Turkey international Bayindir took Onana’s place.
A headless chicken would be more composed than he was handling set pieces at Craven Cottage after he was responsible for the Gunners’ goal in their victory at Old Trafford.
It is uncertain who would be let go if Lammers shows up before the deadline, but the introduction of a third keeper at Old Trafford would probably mean the end for one of the two first-team keepers.
Lammens lacks experience on the largest stage, though, as he is only 23 and has not yet earned a senior cap for Belgium. By the beginning of the 2024–2025 season, Lammens had been the team’s first-choice goalkeeper after joining Antwerp from Club Brugge in 2023.
Lammens, who is 6′ 3″, earned his team debut in a Champions League loss to Porto and seems to be the goalie that United is focusing on.
Emi Martinez of Aston Villa and Gianluigi Donnarumma of PSG were both connected to United, but it seems that money issues prevented both alternatives from moving forward.
