Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens for a fee of around €20m.
After speaking with several people involved in the transaction, CaughtOffside believes Manchester United is getting closer to reaching a deal with Antwerp.
The Red Devils first offered about €17 million for Lammens, but after more negotiations, they improved the total deal to almost €20 million.
According to one source, “a complete agreement is now within reach.” “United is on the brink of securing this deal,” another person confirmed. The latter stages of negotiations are now underway.
Senne Lammens to be Manchester United’s new goalkeeper
This summer, Old Trafford really needed a new player to take Andre Onana’s spot, and Lammens seems like a solid fit.
In his home country of Belgium, the gifted 23-year-old has drawn attention, and it now appears that he is prepared to advance to a more competitive division.
Although it’s difficult to envision Lammens performing significantly worse than Onana, it will be interesting to see if he can adjust to the demands of English football.
Even though CaughtOffside was also informed that Inter Milan and Galatasaray were showing some interest, United will now look to conclude this as soon as possible and appear extremely confident of doing so.
Can new-look United deliver for Amorim?
This summer, United acquired a brand-new front three in the form of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha.
Additionally, Ruben Amorim’s team, which has struggled so far this season, might benefit from a new goalie.
MUFC was eliminated from the Carabao Cup by League Two team Grimsby last night after losing to Arsenal on the first day of the season and drawing with Fulham.
These new hires must perform or Amorim will undoubtedly soon be under a lot of strain.
