Report: Everton now eyeing ‘blockbuster’ move to sign Man Utd star, he’s ready to leave

According to sources, Everton may try to make a surprise bid for Kobbie Mainoo, a young player for Manchester United, in the closing days of the summer transfer window because the Red Devils prospect hasn’t been able to gain significant playing time under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

With the clock running out before the deadline on Monday, Everton News reports that the Toffees are among the Premier League teams that may make Mainoo an offer for a late transfer away from Old Trafford in the final days of the transfer window.

In order to clear space in the roster, Rangers made a bid for promising striker Youssef Chermiti, which could result in another “late surprise” at Everton in Mainoo.

As the team begins a new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Moyes is eager to add another midfield player. Earlier this week, his bid for Tomas Soucek of West Ham United was turned down. The Czech midfielder had the best years of his career under the Scottish manager.

They may now focus on making a “blockbuster” transfer for Mainoo, since the Red Devils young player may be leaving the team after not fitting into Amorim’s strategic intentions. Journalist Graeme Bailey said on Everton News that the Merseyside club is “in the mix” for his signature and that the Toffees are eager to make a deal. Bailey stated:

“Everton are one of the teams who are keen on Mainoo and are certainly going to be in the mix, but there are so many sides keen.

“Mainoo’s camp are considering their options but the suggestion he has rejected clubs not in Europe or in Europe over England is being downplayed by his people.

“He is going to take his time, if he gets the chance to move – United are willing to do a deal but let’s see how it plays out.”

Although the England international, who started for the Three Lions in the EURO 2024 final against Spain last summer, will have plenty of choices, his Red Devils career won’t have benefited much from starting in the shocking League Cup loss to Grimsby Town in terms of fitting into Amorim’s system.

The 20-year-old, who joined United in 2011 and made his first-team debut in January 2023, appears to have been around for a while, but he is still in the early stages of his football career.
