Napoli are closing in on a deal to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Napoli and the Dane had “positive” talks on Friday and are now “advancing in talks” to complete the trade as soon as feasible.
After being targeted to replace Romelu Lukaku, who is anticipated to miss the first few months of the season due to injury, Hojlund wanted guarantees that he would be playing a significant part in the long run.
Given that he has approved the deal and is giving a move to the Naples team precedence over his other pursuers, including AC Milan, it appears that he has been promised such things regarding his future minutes.
Rasmus Hojlund: The state of play this transfer window
Hojlund is expected to join the Serie A winners on a temporary loan until a permanent deal is finalized the following summer.
United is believed to be worth around £40 million for their number nine; just two years ago, they paid £64 million and promised a another £8 million in add-ons to get him from Atalanta.
The 22-year-old has only scored 14 Premier League goals in 62 games over his two seasons at Old Trafford, so it’s no surprise that INEOS are prepared to sever relations as soon as possible, even though his value may have declined even more.
Who else is likely to leave United?
In other parts of M16, United is making a valiant effort to make it easier for exiled Reds Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho to leave.
Garnacho is the one who is most likely to leave out of the four. Since he only has eyes for the Blues this summer, he has been in negotiations with Chelsea for a while and has even turned down offers from teams like Bayern Munich.
