Ruben Amorim sack ‘imminent’ as Man Utd chiefs target ‘unique’ 53-year-old manager – report

According to a report by Fichajes, Zinedine Zidane is being considered as a potential replacement for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, whose dismissal is “imminent.”

In addition to United’s dismal start to the 2025–2026 season, the Manchester team has had difficulties since Ruben Amorim took over last year. The Red Devils did not win a title in the 2024–2025 season, finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur defeated United in the Europa League final, denying them a chance to take home a trophy.

In their first Premier League match of the season, United lost 1-0 to Arsenal at home thus far this season. Amorim’s team gave a decent performance, but they then drew with Fulham, which was disappointing. Grimsby Town, a League Two team, eliminated United from their first cup tournament of the season on Wednesday night after United lost on penalties.

Amorim Sack Imminent at Man Utd, Zidane Could Replace

After a poor start to the season, Fichajes claims that Amorim’s departure from Manchester United is “certainty” and that the club would fire him “imminently.” Zinedine Zidane, a former Real Madrid manager, is being considered to succeed him after Grimsby Town eliminated United from the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils are interested in the French manager, Zidane, who has been unemployed since leaving the Spanish powerhouses, was called “unique” by former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. According to Fichajes, they are considering alternatives before reaching a decision, even if Amorim is now probably going to be fired.

Amorim may be dismissed of his responsibilities before to September if United loses to Burnley in their last match before the international break. The former Sporting manager has plenty of time to make amends, so he shouldn’t be upset if he is instructed to quit the team in the days or weeks ahead.

Amorim has no excuse for not starting to turn things around right away, as United has made significant investments in the summer transfer market to attempt and assemble a team that can contend in the top half of the Premier League table.
