‘Sesko is better than I imagined!’ | Amorim explains ‘different spirit’ at Man Utd

Ruben Amorim has revealed that Benjamin Sesko has taken him by surprise in the two weeks he has worked with the Slovenian striker.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Amorim had nothing but praise for his new striker, who made his debut against Arsenal last week off the bench. He stated that he believes the £74 million ($100 million) player will be at the top of the team’s lineup for a very long time and that he is even better than he initially believed.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rasmus Hojlund, who was left out of the squad for last week’s Premier League opener against Arsenal and has been linked to a return to Italy with Napoli, will be in poor shape after Amorim’s forecast that Sesko will be the team’s striker for many years to come. Despite only scoring four league goals the previous season, Hojlund has stated that he wants to stay and compete for his spot if Sesko joins, claiming that more competition sharpens his skills.

WHAT AMORIM SAID

    • “When you are in a club like this, you want to have the best players but you also have to imagine the future. That is so exciting – I like to know the players, I like to see the videos of the players and to try to get all the information, but you want that confirmation and I felt Sesko was even better than what I was thinking,” Amorim told Sky Sports. “I have to be careful, Sesko is going to be our striker for many, many years so we need to put that in his head and let him settle down, to stay calm and enjoy his day because he’s really like you said, obsessed.”
