The Old Lady is attempting to sign the Morocco international before the transfer season ends, and Juventus is reportedly mulling a move for Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui.
After leaving Bayern Munich for Manchester United in the summer of 2024, Mazraoui was one of the team’s most outstanding players during the challenging 2024–25 season.
The 27-year-old played off the bench in Saturday’s Premier League match against Burnley despite missing Man United’s first three games of the current campaign due to a hamstring injury.
Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus is interested in Mazraoui and is trying to ascertain whether a deal can be reached before the transfer window closes.
Man United are likely to strongly resist a late departure for the versatile defender, but the fact that the Old Lady are being linked with a swoop suggests that they may have been give some encouragement.
Juventus ‘eyeing late move’ for Man United’s Mazraoui
Because Mazraoui can play in both wing-back positions and across the back three, Man United head coach Ruben Amorim views him as an essential player.
Prior to moving to Old Trafford, the Moroccan made 55 appearances for Bayern Munich. Since then, he has made 58 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, dishing out three assists.
Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Ayden Heaven, and Luke Shaw are all available at the back for Man United, while Lisandro Martinez is expected to make a comeback from a catastrophic knee injury before the year is up.
Nevertheless, Mazraoui leaving at this point in the market would still be a major shock.
Which Man United players will leave before Monday’s deadline?
Rasmus Hojlund is now in Naples in preparation for a move to Napoli; the Danish international’s transfer to the Italian champions is expected to be finalized soon.
Tyrell Malacia and Antony are also expected to go before the transfer window closes, but the team is still having trouble moving Jadon Sancho, as evidenced by the collapse of a planned trade to Roma.
Man United is hoping to sign Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa or Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp before the market ends, so a goalkeeping departure is also a possibility.
Kobbie Mainoo has made a request to leave Old Trafford on loan, but it is highly unlikely that the midfielder will be on the move, particularly after Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount both picked up injuries against Burnley on Saturday.
