Shock manager becomes favourite to replace Ruben Amorim at Man Utd as odds dramatically slashed

A shock name has emerged out of nowhere as the favourite to replace Ruben Amorim as Manchester United manager.

It is safe to conclude that Amorim’s start to life in Manchester has not gone well, even though he has guided United to the Europa League final.

United is now in 16th place in the Premier League, and the Portuguese manager, who took over from former manager Erik ten Hag in November, has not been able to turn around the team’s performance.

Some have called for Amorim to be replaced in the summer due to his dismal domestic performance, and it would be shocking to see who is the front-runner to take his place.

For both Amorims and Spurs manager Ange Postecoglu, the forthcoming Europa League final between United and Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur seems like a make-or-break match.

Both managers’ careers in England could end right away if they lose the competition, sparking rumors about who would take their place.

And if Amorim loses his job, former United manager Jose Mourinho is the bookmaker’s favorite to take over in the Old Trafford dugout.

If Amorim leaves in the summer, Mourinho is an overwhelming 4-1 favorite to take over as United’s manager, according to Betfair’s odds.

From 2016 to 2018, Mourinho led United to victory in the Europa League, Carabao Cup, and Community Shield.

Under Mourinho, United also placed second in the Premier League in 2017–18, which is still their joint-best top-flight result since the departure of renowned manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

But in the end, United fired Mourinho in December 2018, saying that after spending almost £400 million on 11 players, there had been no improvement in either style or results.

He was replaced by former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Mourinho had almost a year off before rejoining the Premier League in November 2019 to manage Spurs.

With three games remaining, the 62-year-old, who took over as manager of Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce in June of last year, is now sitting in second place in the Super Lig, eight points behind ancient rivals Galatasaray.
