The four signings Manchester United could complete before transfer deadline

Officially, Manchester United has one week left to complete any deals they plan to make before the cutoff. That applies to both incomings and outgoings.

Ruben Amorim has been successful in strengthening the assault, which he believed needed the most support. The United boss only saw his team score 30 Premier League goals in the 25 games he managed after being hired halfway through the previous campaign.

As a result, they have spent £207.5 million on the three attacking players, Matheus Cunha (£62.5 million), Bryan Mbeumo (£71 million), and Benjamin Sesko (£74 million).

Although the immediate attention may have switched to working on individuals who won’t be included in the project—Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia—further incomings are still possible if the project is finished with enough time left.

Before the deadline at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 1, the Manchester Evening News examines four players who United may add to Amorim’s roster.

Senne Lammens

Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp seems to have been selected as the candidate, and United has not ruled out signing a new goalkeeper before the deadline.

The 23-year-old did not play in Sunday’s 2-1 Belgian Pro League victory over Mechelen. “The transfer talks are ongoing,” his manager revealed when asked why. Senne is managing things coolly.”

United would reportedly need to pay £16 million plus add-ons.

Before the FIFA World Cup next summer, Lammens believes a move to the Premier League will allow him to better fight Thibaut Courtois for the starting goalkeeper position for the Belgian national side.

Amorim has employed Altay Bayindir, his second choice, in games against Fulham and Arsenal thus far this season. After suffering a preseason hamstring injury, first-choice Andre Onana made a comeback for the latter, although only to start on the bench.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

Gianluigi Donnarumma is another goalkeeper who was mentioned in connection with a move to Old Trafford in the closing days of the transfer window.

Before Paris Saint-Germain defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup earlier this month, manager Luis Enrique mercilessly cut his treble-winning goalkeeper from his team. Lucas Chevalier, a €40 million (£34.5 million) acquisition, took his spot. With just one save in the penalty shootout, he instantly became a hero.

Rumors have subsequently connected the Italian international to either Manchester City or United, their bitter rivals. The latter have refuted allegations, stating that since personal terms have been agreed upon, the door remains open.

Carlos Baleba

This summer, the Red Devils expressed interest in Carlos Baleba, a midfielder for Brighton.

The 21-year-old has made 79 appearances for the Seagulls since relocating to England in 2023. Alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Onana, he has developed into a regular starter for the team and a full-fledged Cameroon international throughout that period.

But in a show of defiance, United’s rivals have given their player a £100 million appraisal. A deal this year appears extremely unlikely, but nothing can be ruled out while the window is still open.

Ricardo Mathias

According to a Sun article, United is thinking of making a last-ditch move for Ricardo Mathias, a highly regarded teenage striker for Internacional.

The 19-year-old has scored five goals in 22 senior appearances for the Brazilian team. He has reportedly drawn suitors from Europe as a result.

And according to reports, United is one among them; they even sent a scout to see one of his recent performances.

Globo Esporte, a Brazilian publication, asserts that he would fetch a hefty £56.2 million.
