ESPN: ‘Still time’ for Man United to complete deal for £47m man after interest ‘shown over the weekend’

Manchester United could still sanction Andre Onana’s exit despite the transfer window being closed in England.

In fact, the window closed for the Premier League and most of Europe at 7 p.m. on Monday night. United will be considering a possible transaction as Turkish parties can still conduct business until Wednesday, September 12.

Andre Onana garners late interest from Galatasaray

Galatasaray had “shown interest over the weekend” in Onana after losing out on their main target, Ederson, to archrivals Fenerbahce, according to ESPN’s confirmation on Monday through journalist Rob Dawson.

It is now possible for the Cameroonian to leave in the upcoming week as United approved the entry of 23-year-old Senne Lammens as Onana’s successor.

Onana risks playing a heavily reduced role in M16

After falling far from grace under Ruben Amorim, Dawson does add that Onana would love to stay and battle for his spot at Old Trafford.

until the last day of the 2024–2025 season, Amorim decided to leave the goalie out of the matchday roster. He then continued to use Altay Bayindir in his stead until the beginning of 2025–2026. Onana was only used for last week’s Carabao Cup match against League Two team Grimsby Town; Bayindir has started all three of the Reds’ Premier League games.

Fans and Amorim have little to no faith that the 29-year-old would have a better season than the two poor ones he has already had since joining the team in 2023 after he gave up two goals in regular time and 12 penalties in the shootout.

In 2023, United paid £47.2 million to Inter Milan to acquire the goalie, whose contract expires in 2028.
