Sources: Talks take place for Andre Onana as Man City could help Man Utd offload goalkeeper

Manchester United’s deadline day was expected to be frantic and it is panning out that way, with Andre Onana the latest to come into focus.

A day that began with Emi Martinez making his transfer and Antony reaching a deal with Real Betis might intensify with the addition of Andre Onana.

Man Utd will have four goalkeepers if (when) they buy one, which is not ideal for a team looking to reduce pay expenses.

According to United in Focus, following recent discussions in which Man City was involved, Onana is the player who may depart the team.

Andre Onana transfer latest

When this season started, no one thought Andre Onana would be the Manchester United goalkeeper most in danger of leaving, but his reputation has rapidly declined.

Due to United’s inability to afford a new goalie, Onana was expected to have his best season ever.

However, he suffered an injury early in the season and performed horribly against Grimsby on his maiden start.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Onana after Altay Bayindir was called up for the match against Burnley, and Man City can knock the domino effect to make it happen.

After consulting with transfer insider Graeme Bailey, United in Focus has learned that discussions have been had with Galatasaray and his people. Ederson was lost to fierce rivals Fenerbahce by Galatasaray.

Man City is attempting to make that transaction, but they are also speaking with Donnarumma’s people. Onana is now one of the solutions being considered.

Onana’s move can happen after deadline day

The fact that the Turkish transfer window does not end on the same day as the Premier League’s is a significant advantage for United from this update.

Therefore, before agreeing to approve a sale to a Turkish club, United can take their time to evaluate their options and financial situation.

Although Bayindir would like to go back to his native country, he gets paid less than Onana and has somehow turned out to be the better choice.

Onana is forced to look in from the outside, and even if a permanent move seems unlikely, United would benefit from a loan provided Galatasaray paid him.
