GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United is strengthening their position on Kobbie Mainoo and has told the Old Trafford academy graduate that he would not be given the chance to finalize a move in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Head coach Ruben Amorim is committed to keeping players in the squad who are part of his plans for the rest of the season, even though Jadon Sancho and Antony are on the verge of leaving the Red Devils before today’s 7pm deadline. The latter is joining Real Betis after a deal worth up to £21.6 million was agreed.
Amorim Unwilling to Entertain Mainoo Switch
Respected Italian journalist Romano claims that Manchester United would prevent Mainoo from leaving on the deadline day after key players in the background have stated in interviews that there is no possibility of him being granted permission to take on a new challenge.
After deciding that he wanted to get more playing time in order to be a consistent starter at the 2026 World Cup, the England international asked the Red Devils for a loan move last week. However, his boyhood club has no plans to comply with his request at this point in the summer transfer season.
Even though it has been evident that Mainoo is unhappy with the quantity of opportunities he has received under Amorim, Romano has disclosed that the central midfielder, who Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has called “special,” will be compelled to remain at Old Trafford. Important decision-makers have decided to close the case.
