Seven players could miss Nottingham Forest vs Man United after Ruben Amorim update

Manchester United face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend on the back of three consecutive wins, and with a relatively injury-free senior squad

Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Lisandro Martinez will not feature for Manchester United against Nottingham Forest despite returning to training on Wednesday.

Martinez rejoined the senior squad at Carrington for the first time since knee surgery curtailed last season for him. The defender sustained a cruciate ligament injury late on during a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in February.

He missed the final 23 matches of last term and has been out for the first 10 of this campaign. Martinez’s absence from the matchday squad now extends into November, approaching nine months since he suffered the setback.

Amorim remains cautious with the Argentina international. “He [Martinez] wants to go to this one, he is not going to this one, he is going to take time,” the United head coach said during his pre-match press conference.

“He started training with us, but we had to change some things in the exercise for him, so slowly he is going to get better. He is really good, he is really good, and he gives us that edge in every training session, and that is also really good for us.”

Martinez, however, is the only United player officially ruled out. Amorim added on Thursday: “The rest of the guys, we have one more day [of training], I don’t know about Harry Maguire. I think the rest is fit.”

Maguire missed the 4-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion with a knock and remains a doubt. Leny Yoro replaced the central defender at Old Trafford last weekend.

Those comments suggest Mason Mount is fit again after dropping out of the starting line-up against Brighton. The midfielder made the bench, but did not feature as a substitute.
