Jadon Sancho has taken to Instagram Stories to share a photograph with his ‘brothers’ in Manchester United’s group of unwanted players.
Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia were reportedly urged to find a new club at the close of the previous season. Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim has made no secret of the players who are regarded surplus to requirements.
Although Amorim does not view the existence of the so-called “bomb squad” as a good thing, he asserted following the start of the new season that the players themselves expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford.
“Once more, I am aware that having players in this predicament is not ideal, but it is evident that they would prefer to play for another club,” Amorim stated.
Although Garnacho, Malacia, Antony, and Sancho have not yet finalized their ostensibly inevitable moves, Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan.
The former winger for Borussia Dortmund, who was on loan at Chelsea last season and has been linked to a number of teams during the current summer transfer window, shared a picture on Instagram Stories on Wednesday. The unexpected face in the photo has raised questions about the future of yet another United player.
The England winger is seated next to Malacia and Antony in Sancho’s selfie, although Garnacho is not visible.
The 27-year-old Argentina international defender Lisandro Martinez, who joined the Red Devils in 2022, will take his spot.
Martinez’s appearance with the ‘bomb squad’ group has tongues spinning, not because he faces expulsion but rather because he might be returning.
Martinez is anticipated to be sidelined until at least October after suffering an ACL injury during a game against Crystal Palace in February.
Matthijs de Ligt, the center back, has started both of United’s games this season, with Luke Shaw and Lenny Yoro at his sides.
There are other Premier League managers with undesirable players on the periphery of their teams besides Amorim.
The transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka to Dortmund this week has also left Enzo Maresca with a group of undesirable players due to Chelsea’s complex personnel situation.
Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell andĀ Raheem SterlingĀ are all on the hunt for new homes and Disasi recently posted a photograph of the ‘bomb squad’ dressing room.
The transfer window remains open until next Monday, by which time both United and Chelsea will be eager to have streamlined their playing staff.
