Man Utd ‘make Ruben Amorim sack decision’ as INEOS schedule crunch meeting

After Saturday’s pivotal game against Burnley, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly scheduled to have urgent discussions with the team’s top executives.

After a terrible start to the season reached its lowest point with Wednesday’s humiliating Carabao Cup loss to League Two team Grimsby Town, Amorim is under increasing pressure.

United is now sagging in 16th place after finishing a dismal 15th in the Premier League the previous season. They have only managed to scrounge together one point from their first two league games this season.

Amorim, who cryptically said “we will have time to decide things” following the Grimsby loss, perhaps referring to his position, would come under even more pressure if they were unable to defeat recently promoted Burnley at Old Trafford.

The Mirror claims that the 40-year-old, who raised new questions about his future at United with his frank remarks following the Grimsby disaster, will speak with club management during the international break.

Amorim has only won seven of his 29 Premier League games since taking over for Erik ten Hag in November, even though his contract is set to expire in June 2027 with a one-year extension option.

The United management agrees that Amorim needs to start a rapid improvement in outcomes in order to remain, despite the reluctance to fire him less than a year into his job.

By choosing Amorim over former sporting director Dan Ashworth, who had favored Marco Silva, Gareth Southgate, and Thomas Frank, United’s CEO Omar Berrada played a significant role in the appointment.

Because Berrada’s reputation is at stake and he is counting on Amorim to make things better at United, the former Manchester City executive is willing to give him every chance to make things right.

But with United already eliminated from the League Cup and no European football this season, the FA Cup is their only chance to win a trophy, therefore Amorim is under pressure to alter the team’s course.

With only four days remaining in the transfer window, United is in a race against time to find a new goalkeeper to take the position of Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana, who both make mistakes. Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp, who is valued at £17 million, is their main target.

Before Monday’s transfer deadline, Amorim is also eager to add a new midfield player, but Carlos Baleba of Brighton, his top target, might be too costly at £100 million.

Tyrell Malacia, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho are presently training apart from the first team squad, and United hopes to unload them before the deadline.

While Garnacho is waiting for a move to Chelsea, who are willing to spend £35 million plus add-ons for him, Antony’s permanent move to Real Betis is reportedly almost finalized.

In order to settle the continuous drama surrounding the player’s future, United is expected to accept Chelsea’s offer of £50 million for the 21-year-old winger.

United insiders are said to have dismissed suggestions that Amorim could be shown the door so early in the season, attributing his outburst to the heat of the moment following the Grimsby defeat.
