Man United dressing room questions Amorim’s tactics as manager gets ready for showdown talks: Report

If major English media stories are to be accepted, Ruben Amorim is about to leave Manchester United. The 40-year-old Portuguese player has been given the most difficult footballing assignment in the world: turning around a struggling Manchester United team that hasn’t won the Premier League since 2013.

Amorim has received a lot of patience from the Jim Ratcliffe-led INEOS Group, which oversees United’s football operations. However, the tactician’s recent shocking League Cup loss to League Two team Grimsby Town and his post-game remarks that “something has to change” at the team have sparked rumors that he may be ready to leave.

Amid all the rumours, ESPN has reported that Amorim will coach Manchester United during their Saturday Premier League match against Burnley. However, he is set to have some serious talks with the United board post the Burnley game.

Man United dressing room unhappy with Amorim?

According to the Daily Mirror and the Daily Telegraph, Amorim will meet with United’s management to discuss his future and the team’s dismal start to the current campaign. United drew their second match against Fulham in the Premier League after losing their first match against Arsenal.

According to Mirror, Amorim needs to win the Burnley match, and a loss on Saturday would result in his dismissal. According to the Guardian, Amorim’s tactics have angered certain members of the Manchester United squad.

The report further added that there’s a feeling at the club that Amorim is ready to resign if he fails to pick up some good results in the near future.

INEOS still supports Amorim?

The Times is the only English media outlet to claim that, after a disastrous loss to Grimsby, Amorim still has the support of the board.

On the sidelines, United has also begun to assemble a shortlist of potential Amorim replacements, which is headed by two Premier League managers, as we previously reported. According to recent rumors, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola or Crystal Palace mastermind Oliver Glasner may be the next United coach.
