Manchester United considering 62-year-old ex-Chelsea, Tottenham manager as Amorim replacement

Manchester United may turn to 62-year-old Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho to replace Ruben Amorim after his Fenerbahce departure.

The Spanish publication Fichajes said that Jose Mourinho would make a surprise comeback to Manchester United in the near future. As rumors about the Portuguese tactician’s future grow, the Red Devils are searching the managerial market for a potential replacement for Ruben Amorim. Manchester United is now interested in the 62-year-old former manager of Chelsea and Tottenham.

With his most recent project coming to an end in just 12 months, Jose Mourinho has devolved into a shadow of the manager he once was. The Setubal native has been on a downhill trajectory for the past six years, despite being one of the greatest managers of all time, not just in his generation.

The 62-year-old gained notoriety while playing for FC Porto, leading the Portuguese powerhouse to an unexpected UEFA Champions League victory. Mourinho went on to have success with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Chelsea twice. With AS Roma, he also took home a European trophy.

But following a lackluster stint at Fenerbahce, the Portuguese tactician is no longer a sought-after candidate in the managerial market. According to the most recent news, Mourinho may make an unexpected comeback to Manchester United, therefore that might soon change.

Despite Ruben Amorim’s uncertain future at Old Trafford, Manchester United’s interest in Jose Mourinho is startling. It’s interesting to note that the previous manager of Chelsea and Tottenham failed to lead the Red Devils to the illusive Premier League title and is a part of the legendary surrender of the Premier League club’s prestige in English football.

Amorim, the former Sporting CP manager, has only won 16 of his 45 games with Manchester United thus far. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that he has been connected to leaving Old Trafford in numerous stories. In the meantime, Manchester United has made Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner their managerial targets in addition to Mourinho.

With the list of managerial targets increasing, it will be interesting to see if Amorim can save his job at Manchester United. However, despite the emerging links, it will be surprising to see Mourinho rejoining the Red Devils in the coming weeks.
