After hobbling off during the first half of Manchester United’s Premier League match against Burnley, an injury expert has calculated how long Matheus Cunha would be sidelined. Despite early campaign results not going their way, Cunha, the Red Devils’ first summer addition, has contributed to Ruben Amorim’s team.
The Brazilian was included in the starting lineup for the crucial match against the Clarets after the team’s crushing loss to Grimsby in the middle of the week, but he was substituted out after less than 30 minutes of play. Now, a possible recovery timeline has been made public.
Cunha Injury Timeline Revealed
Expert examination of Cunha’s injury was provided by the social media account ‘Physio Scout’ in the aftermath of the incident. There were two possible outcomes, according to reports, when the former Wolves player hobbled off at Old Trafford, holding his hamstring.
The “sprinting mechanism brings concern for a genuine strain as opposed to general hamstring tightness,” it was noted, and the fact that United’s number 10 pulled up while running only made those concerns worse. The grade at which the strain is judged will ultimately dictate the recuperation duration.
The Brazilian would be out for two to four weeks due to a grade one injury. He might have to miss up to six weeks of work, though, if it turns out to be a grade two strain.
Cunha would therefore be unable to play in the Manchester derby following the international break and the crucial encounter against Chelsea that follows. He might also be unable to make the October trip to Anfield to play Liverpool.
