100% long balls, 5 key passes, 3 shots: Unplayable United ace tore Burnley apart in thrilling 3-2 win

Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo took centre stage as the club secured their first win of the season against Burnley.

United beat Burnley

Josh Cullen’s own goal gave United the lead in the 27th minute. Casemiro headed a beautiful corner kick from Bruno Fernandes, forcing Martin Dubravka to make a stop. But the ball went into the back of the net after bouncing off Cullen.

Lyle Foster gave Burnley the lead ten minutes after the restart, but United responded right away when Mbeumo headed in a cross from Diogo Dalot.

Jaidon Anthony’s shot, assisted by Kobbie Mainoo’s intervention, sailed past a defenseless Altay Bayindir to give the visitors a second goal. It appeared that the two teams would split the points, but in extra time, Amad gave United a penalty.

Fernandes stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, securing United a crucial three points.

Several United players impressed, but new signing Mbeumo stood out above the rest.

Mbeumo produced superb performance

Mbeumo scored one goal, although he had multiple opportunities, particularly in the first half, to add one or two more.

He posed a threat the entire time, and Burnley found it difficult to handle his strength and speed.

Mbeumo made three shots while he was on the field; two of them were on goal, but one did not call for Dubravka to swing into action.

The Cameroonian made 52 touches with the ball and completed 26 of his 36 passes (72% pass accuracy) to find his teammates. Mbeumo’s five passes were crucial to the team’s success. He made one significant opportunity.

Mbeumo tried to make contact with three long balls and five crosses. With all three of the long balls he pinged and four crosses, he was able to reach his goal.

The attacker was defeated in all three of his airborne challenges, although he prevailed in two of the four ground battles he engaged in.

He received two fouls.

Mbeumo, who is settling into his role at United and getting fitter and sharper with each game, put on a fantastic display.
