Just in: Man Utd submit offer to sign ‘phenomenal’ star, medical today if he agrees

Journalist Mike McGrath claims that Manchester United has made a better bid for goalkeeper Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp.

The ‘phenomenal’ 23-year-old goalie is the target of Ruben Amorim’s wish list for a new goalkeeper in the final two days of the summer transfer window, and the Old Trafford team is working harder to sign him before the deadline.

Although Lammens has not yet reached a personal agreement with the Red Devils, he is said to be United’s top target to compete for Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

The uncapped Belgium international, who also has an offer from Turkish champions Galatasaray, reportedly had discussions with United earlier this week.

The Red Devils have now returned with an improved offer, and Lammens could take a medical as soon as today if he agrees to terms, with Royal Antwerp open to a sale for a fee in excess of £20m.

McGrath claims that United has also inquired about Emiliano Martinez, a veteran of Aston Villa, as a possible Lammens substitute. During discussions, it was brought up that Jadon Sancho might turn out to be the opposite:

After Onana and Bayindir failed to make an impression in Amorim’s first ten months as manager at Old Trafford, United is eager to get a new goalkeeper.

Onana made just one appearance in Wednesday’s penalty shootout loss to Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup second round after being benched in favor of Bayindir for United’s opening three Premier League games.

Lammens became the first-choice goalkeeper for Royal Antwerp last season after joining from Club Brugge in the summer of 2023. In 44 games across all competitions, he gave up 56 goals while keeping 10 clean sheets.

Due to United’s interest, the 23-year-old was left out of the squad for the following two Belgian Pro League games after making four appearances for Royal Antwerp in 2025–2026, giving up goals in each game.
