Just in: David Ornstein says Man Utd reach deadline day agreement to sell £200,000-a-week star

According to journalist David Ornstein, Real Betis and Manchester United have agreed to sign Antony on a long-term contract.

The Brazilian forward, who earns £200,000 a week, is expected to return to La Liga on deadline day for a reputed €25 million (£21 million), with a 50% sell-on clause included in the deal.

Antony scored nine goals and made five assists in 26 games across all competitions during his second half of the previous season while on loan at Betis.

Antony Set to Join Real Betis Permanently

In an article on X, Ornstein disclosed that, despite the Spanish team’s initial desire for a loan, Man United and Real Betis had agreed on deadline day to Antony’s permanent transfer:

Throughout the summer, Betis has worked to re-sign Antony after his impressive season in which he led Manuel Pellegrini’s team to the Conference League final.

The 25-year-old, who paid £85 million to join United from Ajax in August 2023, made 96 appearances at Old Trafford, tallying 12 goals and dishing out five assists.

According to Ornstein, Antony is requesting that the clubs make sure he gets the €4 million he would lose by accepting a pay cut at Real Betis. He still has two years left on his United contract.
