“Here we go!”: United miss out on long-term target as bitter rival strikes deal for 26-yo French wizard – Fabrizo Romano

Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign long-term Manchester United target Randal Kolo Muani after agreeing a loan deal with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Long-term target at Old Trafford

Kolo Muani, 26, has been linked to several moves by the Red Devils in recent years.

Kolo Muani was also a top target for United in the summer of 2023, when the team finally made the decision to sign Rasmus Hojlund in a deal that could have cost up to £72 million.

However, PSG was able to sign the France international for £77 million alongside Eintracht Frankfurt after acquiring Hojlund from Atalanta.

Given that United agreed to loan Hojlund to Serie A champions Napoli last week, it’s reasonable to assume that neither transaction has worked out for the attackers or clubs.

And now that Spurs and PSG have agreed on a season-long loan, it is Kolo Muani’s turn to finalize his departure.

Earlier this month, while INEOS continued to plan enhancements for Amorim’s failing attack, United reportedly made moves to recruit the 26-year-old forward.

Kolo Muani reportedly turned down this offer because he was more interested in finalizing a move to Juventus, where he was on loan for the second part of the previous campaign.

However, the Old Lady failed to reach an agreement with PSG this summer for him to return, instead they made a successful approach for Lois Openda, a forward for RB Leipzig, as a backup.

Spurs reach agreement with PSG

Spurs were able to get ahead of Juventus in the competition for Kolo Muani, who promptly strengthened the attacking line under new manager Thomas Frank following the signing of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus earlier this summer.

Bryan Mbeumo was also a target for the Lilywhites, but the Cameroonian turned down the north London offer since he was only interested at Old Trafford.

Although there is no sign that United entered the fray on deadline day for their long-term aim, the pursuit of Kolo Muani has ended in success where a deal for Mbeumo failed. The Frenchman might have followed the Cameroonian’s route if they had.

Romano confirms the “loan move until June 2026” for Kolo Muani with his trademark “here we go!” seal of approval.

Tweet: “BREAKING: Randal Kolo Muani to Tottenham, here we go! Deal done for loan move until June 2026. Paris Saint-Germain accept Spurs proposal as Kolo Muani wanted the move + out of the project. Exclusive story, confirmed.”

United travel to north London to play Spurs on November 8 meaning the Red Devil fanbase will get to watch the French forward up close at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and decide whether he was a missed opportunity or not.
