Breakthrough: Man Utd chiefs reach late “total agreement” to sign “excellent” star for Amorim

With time ticking by on deadline day, Manchester United have reportedly reached a “total agreement” to sign one of their top targets just hours before the transfer window slams shut.

Man Utd’s deadline day business

On the outgoings front, the Red Devils have already had a busy day in an attempt to make place for some much-needed new players. At the end, it appears like Antony and Jadon Sancho will both be moving to Real Betis and Aston Villa, which would free up funds on United’s high salary cost.

Antony’s move will come as a particular relief after Betis responded to earlier reports that they had completed a move for the winger, saying: “There is no agreement for Antony and we have withdrawn the offer. We can’t afford the fee and the amounts that Manchester United must instead pay the player before the transfer.”

Those at Old Trafford must also focus on players who might come in the opposite direction, since two undesired stars are on their way out. Additionally, the search for a new goalkeeper has been the main focus.

The primary concern has been who will be coming to take Andre Onana’s place. After the former Inter Milan player made one too many mistakes, there were little questions that the Red Devils would be receiving a new number one.

At one point, Manchester United turned their attention to the Argentine, giving the impression that Emiliano Martinez would be the one to arrive. Unfortunately, United has apparently come to a complete agreement to accept an alternative option following a last-minute twist.

Man Utd reach “total agreement” to sign Lammens

To put an end to a summer-long drama, Manchester United has officially struck a “total agreement” to sign Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. After United pursued Lammens over Martinez of Aston Villa, Ruben Amorim is expected to receive his upgrade on Onana after agreeing to a deal of €21 million (£18 million).

League stats 24/25 Lammens Martinez
Starts 30 37
Save Percentage 81.4% 69%
Clean Sheets 7 8
Saves 127 96

Although it will take time to determine whether they made the correct choice, the statistics are undoubtedly encouraging. With only one fewer clean sheet than the Argentine, Lammens outperformed Martinez in terms of save percentage and saves.

Amorim should finally have a goalkeeper who can build from his backline, as analyst Ben Mattinson has described him as a player with “excellent” variety in his passing. Additionally, that might be the difference.

The impending arrival of the 23-year-old is a significant positive move for Manchester United’s goalkeeping staff, and Amorim’s team has to just get started after the international break after making an investment this summer.
