Man Utd tipped to launch move to sign £35m African star with 19-goals last season – journalist

Manchester United could reportedly attempt to sign AFC Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Red Devils have chosen to restructure the frontline by bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko after struggling with goal-scoring issues the previous season.

Despite United’s loss to Arsenal in their Premier League debut last weekend, Cunha and Mbeumo, the new additions, looked promising. Sesko was added as a second-half substitution, but he didn’t have enough time to have an effect.

Bailey now claims on TBR Football that Man Utd first sought to acquire Semenyo before acquiring Mbeumo. Therefore, it is improbable that United will try to sign the Ghanaian this summer.

Ruben Amorim’s team may try to sign Semenyo in January or the summer of next year, though, if he keeps up his impressive play in the upcoming months. United intends to keep an eye on him.

The 25-year-old, who Transfermarkt estimates is worth roughly £35 million, just signed an extension with the Cherries, although he still has five years left on his current deal.

It is very improbable that Bournemouth will permit him to leave in the middle of the season. Therefore, if United makes a move, the most likely result will be to sign the African next summer.

Semenyo to Man Utd

After scoring 19 goals in all competitions the previous season, the Bournemouth star has had an incredible start to the current campaign, including a brace against Liverpool on the road. Nevertheless, Andoni Iraola’s team lost, which is regrettable.

Semenyo is at ease with both feet and effective on either flank. He works hard without possession and is swift, strong, and skilled in the air. He can also dribble past opponents’ defenders in confined spaces.

The African is in the peak of his career and has begun to demonstrate his ability to play at the best level. Therefore, if Manchester United were to acquire him, it would be a huge coup.

United would require adequate depth in every department if they were to make it to the European football tournament the following season. It would be an exciting possibility if they could put together an assault with Cunha, Mbeumo, and Semenyo in addition to the CFs Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee.
