Regarding a possible departure from Manchester United this summer, representatives of Bruno Fernandes have talked with representatives from another Saudi team.
Earlier in the summer transfer window, Al-Hilal wanted the United captain and was willing to offer him an incredible three-year contract worth £200 million.
Additionally, United was prepared to pay a fee of £100 million, but the Portugal international turned down the offer.
Al-Ittihad, another Saudi Pro League team, is currently attempting to entice him to leave Old Trafford.
According to the Sun, “positive” negotiations have already taken place between Fernandes’ agents and the Saudi titans.
According to the article, Fernandes will think about moving if Al-Ittihad is willing to give him a contract of £33 million annually.
Fernandes acknowledged in June that he would be willing to leave United if they told him he was no longer needed, casting doubt on his future there.
‘I spoke to coach [Ruben] Amorim and he asked me not to go. My wife asked me what I wanted to do,’ Fernandes said.
‘It would have been easy to move there as I know the Portuguese players there very well, but I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles.
‘Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. They don’t need the money,’ he added.
‘If I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.’
Despite having no significant departures this summer, United has been able to spend about £200 million thanks to the addition of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.
Fernandes may play a deeper midfield role this season as a result of those offensive additions; he did so against Arsenal in last Sunday’s season opener.
Before the summer transfer window ends on September 1st, United is still looking to strengthen this aspect of the pitch.
The club’s top target is Carlos Baleba, but Brighton is adamant about holding off on selling this summer and has set a lofty asking price of more than £100 million.
